MAN ARRESTED FOR ALLEGEDLY ROBBING GAS STATION

The Linder Firm Feb. 19, 2015

Law enforcement authorities with the Longview Police Department announced that they arrested a man on Feb. 11. The arrest followed the department’s plea with the public for help in finding him.

The man, a 24-year-old, is a suspect in a gas station armed robbery that occurred in Marshall on Feb. 9. The robbery happened at the Chevron station located on North East End Boulevard around 10:50 p.m. Following the robbery, Marshall police officials had prepared and obtained a warrant for the man’s arrest, but they were initially unable to locate him.

Marshall police made a public statement asking for people with information to call the Criminal Investigation Bureau. The man was later in Longview. Following his arrest, the Marshall police thanked the public for their help. It is unclear if a tip was provided to law enforcement or how the man was found. He is in custody pending a charge of aggravated robbery. Sources do not indicate if bond has been set in his case.

People who are facing felony charges have the potential for long terms of imprisonment. When the offense charged is one that is a violent crime, such as armed robbery, assault, murder or sexual assault, the penalties are often more severe if the person is convicted than for nonviolent crimes. Those who are charged with such offenses may want to seek help as soon as possible from a criminal defense attorney, as defendants have the right to defend against the allegations against them. An attorney may be able to present mitigating evidence to the prosecuting attorney in order to secure an agreement to a lesser plea. He or she may also be able to file motions to seek evidence suppression and litigate the case through trial.
